My professional history extends back more than two decades. A brief summary / highlights:

  • I was a copy editor and translator on the evening news desk at Haaretz newspaper during the Second Intifada, when late night military incursions and suicide bombings taught me to work accurately and quickly under deadline.

  • I reported as a freelancer in Gaza and the West Bank from 2005-2011, including Israel’s 2005 withdrawal of its bases and settlements from Gaza, the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war, and the grassroots anti-occupation protests in West Bank villages.

  • I was a member of the core team that founded and launched +972 Magazine in 2011 and frequently acted as editor.

  • I reported the 2011 Egyptian uprising for +972, just a few months after the magazine’s launch.

  • In New York I was an editor at The Daily Beast, techPresident/Civic Hall, and at Vocativ.com (2011-14)

  • I was a fellow in the International Security Program at New America (2014-15).

  • As a consulting editor, I launched and edited The Conversationalist from 2018-2011.
